Dirk Nowitzki exploded tonight for 42 points on 13-23 shooting, 3-3 treys, 13-16 free throws, with 12 boards, an assist, and 2 blocks, with only 1 turnover, as he led the Mavs to a comeback victory over the Pistons, 88-84. For Detroit, Rodney Stuckey (19 points on 4-8 shooting, 10-10 free throws, with 5 boards, 3 assists, and only 1 turnover) and Tayshaun Prince (19 and 5 on 9-13 shooting, with a block and no turnovers) were solid.
JaVale McGee (24 points on 9-14 shooting, with 18 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals and 4 blocks) erupted to lead the Wizards over the Sixers in overtime, 116-114. John Wall returned tonight from his four-game absence to contribute 25 points on 7-15 shooting, 3-7 treys, 8-8 free throws, with 3 boards, 6 assists and a steal, with only 1 turnover. Andray Blatche also added 17 , 12 and 3, with only 1 turnover. For the Sixers, Andre Iguodala returned from his three-game absence to lead the Sixers with 23 points, 11 boards, 8 assists, 2 treys, a steal and a block, with only 1 turnover. Marreese Speights (16 and 9, on 8-13 shooting, with 2 blocks) and Elton Brand (19, 7 and 2, on 8-14 shooting, with 2 steals) were okay, as well.
Brook Lopez (32 points on 12-19 shooting, 8-10 free throws, with 9 boards, 2 assists, and only 1 turnover) and Devin Harris (27 points on 9-17 shooting, 3-7 treys, with 2 boards, 9 assists, and a steal) teamed up to hand the Hawks their third straight loss in an overtime victory for the Nets, 107-101. Despite the loss, Atlanta's usual stat stuffers didn't disappoint too harshly. If anything, Jamal Crawford (21, 5 and 3, on 8-14 shooting, with 3 treys), Al Horford (14, 10 and 5), Josh Smith (20, 7 and 3, with a trey and a steal), and Joe Johnson (16, 6 and 8) got 'theirs' by the end of the night.
Derrick Rose (30 points, 5 boards, 8 assists, with 2 treys, a steal and a block) and Joakim Noah (19 points on 7-13 shooting, with 13 boards, 3 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks) have been absolutely on fire all season, which is a shame, because the Lakers have been on fire all season, as well. The Lakers beat the Bulls, 98-91, behind Lamar Odom (21, 8 and 2, on 7-13 shooting, 7-7 free throws), Pau Gasol (12, 11 and 4, with 2 steals and 5 blocks), and Shannon Brown (21, 4 and 3, on 7-14 shooting, 5-10 treys, with a steal and a block, with only 1 turnover), who has looked terrific off the bench all season. Taj Gibson (16 points on 7-12 shooting, 2-2 free throws, with 12 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks) was pretty good for the Bulls tonight, too.
D.J. Augustin (24 points on 10-18 shooting, 2-5 treys, with 5 boards, 7 assists and 4 steals) was really good tonight for the Bobcats, but the rest of his teammates (except Gerald Wallace [20, 8 and 3, on 8-15 shooting, with a steal and a block]) failed to show up, as the Knicks beat Charlotte, 110-107. New York was led by guards Toney Douglas (22 points on 8-12 shooting, 5-7 treys), Raymond Felton (16, 3 and 9, with a trey, a steal and a block), and Landry Fields (14, 7 and 2, on 6-10 shooting, with 2 treys, 2 steals and a block). Also, I've noticed that Danilo Gallinari (15, 6 and 4, 8-8 free throws, with a trey, 2 steals and a block) is starting to drive towards the basket a lot these days, hence the increase in his free throw attempts this season.
